First 3D laptop in the world
When bloggers talk about 3D laptops, they are usually taking about dual GPU super-laptops capable of pushing a blistering amount of polygons onto a massive 18-inch screen. But Acer’s latest laptop, the Acer Aspire 5738PG, pushed three-dimensions in a more palpable way: it’s not just a gaming machine. It’s as 3D as an IMAX film.
Acer unveiled the 3D capable Aspire during a press conference on Tuesday, and it’s impressive. The 57E8PG uses a combination of LCD technology, a special polarized screen coating, in-house conversion software
and — of course — those ubiquitous 3D glasses to make your photos and videos pop out of the screen and reach out for you.
“The display has been coated with a special 3D film that clings to the panel pixel by pixel, enabling the LCD technology to deliver a 3D visual feast,” Acer stated. “Slip on the cool polarized eyeglasses that filter the images and you’re ready to dive into an extraordinary 3D adventure.”
The software being used is called the TriDef 3D Experience, and it appears to up sample all of your videos and photos not by definition, but by dimension. It also comes with a tool that does a similar conversion process for games and apps, as long as those programs support DirectX 9 or above.
